Hello there!

Welcome to Elevated Vegan – the ultimate vegan recipe website.

Elevated Vegan is:

  • A place with exceptional tested recipes written by weight. If you are new to measuring ingredients by weight, check out my primer on the subject! Measure by Weight?
  • A place for from-scratch cooking enthusiasts. There will be no references to cans of tomato sauce here!

My passion for cooking began at a young age. I started by making anything and everything from cookbooks, following the recipes exactly. I quickly realized that my results, were on average, mediocre. For the longest time, I always thought that it was because I was not a formally trained chef. I slowly stopped following recipes and started cooking with my senses, having excellent results. Eventually, I started questioning how I could quantify my improv cooking in a highly repeatable manner.

It wasn’t until I discovered the tremendously awesome book set, Modernist Cuisine by Nathan Myhrvold and Chris Young, that I learned how to properly write a highly repeatable recipe. They wrote everything by weight, completely eliminating measuring error resulting from varying packing density of volumetric measurements. This completely blew my mind and forever changed the way that I will write recipes; I hope this will be the case for you too!

With this website and through my own culinary experimentation, I aim to produce a vegan culinary canon. For me, that means I have a lot of work to do. For you, that means there will be an endless stream of vegan recipes coming your way.
